Routes
Why ride to a rock? Because of the roads. There are thousands of miles of great motorcycling routes that stem from the ancient Fort Rock area. When the twisties aren’t keeping your attention, the epic views certainly will. So get out there, and put down the miles.
The Century Loop
The Century Loop will take you on a beautiful route including the scenic Century Drive. This route will take you past a number of beautiful lakes as well as Mt. Bachelor while exploring the Deschutes National Forrest. This route clocks in at just over 120 miles and is about two and a half hours of saddle time.
THE Crater lake LOOP
Crater Lake is an easy ride from LaPine, so why would you not visit? The lake is a natural wonder over 1,000 feet deep with eerily calm and clear waters. The ring road around the lake is a pretty good ride as well. This route also throws in some extra riding for good measure, almost 5 hours of it. This loop is about 250 miles long.
The Lakeview Route
This route out to Lakeview, Oregon and back follows twisting highways riddled with beautiful views while passing by numerous, yes, you guessed it, lakes. Ride through several national forests including Winema, Fremont, and Rogue River. Do this ride on Saturday and stop by the Lakeview Farmer’s Market. Won’t that surprise the locals? This route is 309 miles and 6 hours round trip.
the painted hills LOOP
If you are looking to spend all of Saturday on the road or want a long ride home on Sunday, consider visiting the Painted Hills outside of Mitchell, Oregon. Yes its in a different part of the state, but the hills are awe inspiring and seeing them from the back of a motorcycle is another experience all together. This loop is six and a half hours of saddle time and just under 300 miles.
Dee Wright Observatory
The Dee Wright Observatory overlooks a lava field and is, itself, made entirely of volcanic rock. It is only an hour and a half from camp, about 65 miles, leaving you plenty off time to explore both Sisters and Bend along the way.
Waldo Lake Route
Waldo Lake is the clearest lake in the entire United States and it is only an hour and a half from camp. Along the way you will also pass the beautiful Odell Lake. Is it hot out, looking for a swim, well here you go.
Newberry volcano
Just a quick ride from camp is the Newberry Volcanic Monument. Tens of thousands of acres of lava flows, mountain lakes, and overlooks await. It’s only 30 minutes from camp so you can easily add it on to another route for more ride time.
Willamette National Forest Loop
Not to concerned with site seeing? You just came here to ride you say? Here is your route. These roads are packed with tight corners, 7 hours worth. Head out early and spend the entire day ripping twisties and still make it back to camp in time for happy hour.
Crater Lake Direct Route
This is a more direct route to Crater Lake that will take you past Diamond Lake as well. If seeing Crater Lake is a priority, and if you haven’t visited it should be, this is the way to go. It will leave plenty of time for riding the ring road and stoping for photos at only about 4 hours long.
